Green Paper Structures

Parenting in midlife can be deeply rewarding — and deeply challenging. Whether you’re raising young children, navigating the teenage years, or supporting young adults as they step into independence, it’s easy to get caught up in daily struggles and lose sight of what matters most.

At The Messy Mid, parenting support is offered through one-to-one sessions designed for one or both parents. These sessions help you reconnect with your values as a parent, so you can move beyond battles over the small stuff and focus on raising your children in a way that

feels aligned, intentional, and grounded.

A Values-Led Approach

Instead of getting stuck in conflict or worry over everyday frustrations, we’ll work together

to:

  • Identify your core parenting values

  • Learn to distinguish between what truly matters and what can be let go

  • Reduce power struggles and reactivity around minor issues

  • Strengthen connection and resilience in your family relationships

This approach draws on the wisdom of attachment theory, the importance of secure, trusting relationships,  and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports flexibility, mindfulness, and values-based living.

What to Expect In Session

  • A safe and supportive space to explore your challenges as a parent

  • Practical tools for reducing conflict and stress at home

  • Guidance on shifting your focus from control to connection

  • Strategies to help you parent with consistency, compassion, and confidence

Whether you attend alone or with your partner, sessions are tailored to your family’s unique needs.

The Goal

Not perfect parenting. Not quick fixes.

But a way of showing up for your children, and yourself, that feels true to your values, builds secure connections, and makes the messy mid a little less overwhelming.
