Respectful Practice Policy
At The Messy Mid, I’m committed to creating a safe, supportive, and respectful environment for therapy. This policy explains the standards of behaviour that protect both clients and the therapeutic process.
My Commitment to You
-
I will provide a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space.
-
I will treat you with respect, compassion, and professionalism.
-
I will maintain clear boundaries so therapy remains focused on your needs.
What I Ask in Return
To keep therapy safe and effective, I ask that clients:
-
Treat me with courtesy and respect.
-
Use appropriate language and behaviour during sessions and in communication.
-
Honour session times and the cancellation policy.
-
Respect that therapy is a professional relationship.

Behaviour Which is Not Acceptable
To protect the therapeutic space, the following behaviours are not permitted:
-
Aggressive, abusive, or threatening behaviour (verbal, written, or physical)
-
Sexual comments, advances, or inappropriate conduct
-
Discriminatory or derogatory language
-
Persistent boundary-crossing (e.g. excessive or inappropriate contact outside sessions)

If Boundaries are Broken
If inappropriate behaviour occurs, I may:
-
End the session early
-
Remind you of this policy and discuss whether therapy can continue
-
Decline to offer further sessions
-
Contact emergency services or authorities if there is a serious risk to safety
A Shared Responsibility
Therapy is most effective when both client and psychologist feel safe and respected. By engaging with The Messy Mid, you agree to support a therapeutic space built on mutual respect.
