What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a chance to talk about what brings you here and what you'd like to work on. We'll explore your goals, discuss your background, and begin to identify practical steps to support you. It's also a space to ask questions and see if the approach feels like a good fit for you.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. The Messy Mid currently offers online sessions only. This allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, no matter where you are located in Australia.
What is your fees and rebates?
The fee is $260 for a 50 minute session. If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Some private health funds may also provide rebates - please check with your provider.

Who do you work with?
We support both women and men in midlife who may be experiencing emotional, psychological, or relational challenges. Many of our clients are navigating perimenopause, adjusting to parenting through midlife, coping with stress, anxiety, or depression, or working through grief and identity changes.
What therapies do you use?

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and circumstances. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others benefit from longer-term support. Together, we'll decide what feels right for you.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required to book an appointment. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates in Australia, you will need a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP or Psychiatrist.
Is everything confidential?
Yes, sessions are private and confidential, in line with professional and ethical guidelines. There are a few rare exceptions to confidentiality, such as if there are concerns about immediate safety, which will be explained to you clearly.
